P.A.I.R.: New Pathways Toward a Culture Without Exclusions

A pioneering European initiative that recognizes diversity as the key to cultural innovation.

We are delighted to announce the launch of Paving Accessible and Inclusive Realities (P.A.I.R.), an innovative two-year European project (2024–2026) that aims to redefine access and participation in culture. This program marks a decisive step toward a cultural landscape where equality and inclusion are not mere goals but foundational principles. P.A.I.R. is implemented by liminal (Greece) in collaboration with Alternative Brains Rule (Cyprus) and the Estonian Agrenska Foundation (Estonia). This partnership brings extensive knowledge and experience from the fields of culture and disability, significantly enriching the design and implementation of the project.

P.A.I.R. aims to establish a holistic and participatory approach, fostering mutually beneficial collaboration between cultural organizations, disability communities, and their representative organizations. At the heart of the initiative lie the Creative Accessibility Methodology and Universal Design, ensuring that accessibility and inclusion are integral to every artistic process and decision.

Through digital artworks and multisensory experiences co-designed by and for creators and audiences, both with and without disabilities, P.A.I.R. proposes innovative solutions that expand participation, amplify creative expression, and promote the sustainability of the cultural sector.

Stage One: Mapping Needs and Challenges

To build a cultural landscape that everyone can equally enjoy, it is essential to listen to the needs of the community.

In the first stage of P.A.I.R., we are conducting extensive research on needs and challenges, exploring:

  • The barriers faced by audiences and artists with disabilities in the cultural space.
  • The challenges cultural organizations encounter in their efforts to become more accessible and inclusive.
  • The innovative practices that can make a difference in Greece, Cyprus, and Estonia.
